LAST MINUTE PLEA TO LAND ROVER.
With the build date imminent we resort to desperate measures to get the colours we want!
Email to salesperson at local Land Rover dealer sent Boxing Day afternoon:
I know I said I wouldn’t but before it’s too late I just wanted to see one last time if we definitely can’t have a conker interior on our Evoque?
Tell them it’s for @DriveEurope or www.driveeuropenews.com.
As an absolutely last resort mention Harry Metcalfe at Jaguar Land Rover ETO [ed note: we don’t know the founder of EVO magazine, now at JLR’s special vehicle division, but figure he might look kindly].
There’s just one other thing: heated rear seats (for the dog). Will be going to some very cold places.
If you do this for us, not only will you definitely get a card but you might even get a present too!
Either way, hope you had a good Christmas,
All best, Andy
p.s. if we can’t have the conker interior then by rights the dog won’t be able to have the heated rear seats 😦
Picture below enclosed:
Background: this isn’t our first new car but it’s the first one specced from scratch. We were steered towards the Lux pack but decided to spend the same amount on the things we really need, like: heated steering wheel, electric tailgate (how did we ever cope without one), full automatic parking programme, fancy headlights and full length panoramic sunroof. The big draw is the new nine speed automatic gearbox for max fuel economy. The only problem is you can’t have the conker interior with an Evoque ‘Dynamic’ (we’re not quite old enough for the ‘Prestige’). It was ordered in late November with a build date of 2 January for delivery on 16 January.
update Saturday 28 December.
Reply from Donna:
I had a really good Christmas and hope you all did too.
Unfortunately it is too late to make any changes to the car as it will be in build already, to ensure we have the car for mid-Jan.
There was no way of changing the seat colour unless you wanted the upgraded seats as discussed when ordering, so even with your very useful contacts they wouldn’t have been able to change anything.
On a positive note, I’m loving the photo. The only way this could be improved is to have the Evoque next to your dog having fun in the water.
Looks like you are in the middle of nowhere, heaven.
I look forward to the excitement when your car arrives in the next 2-3 weeks.
Happy New Year
Note the ‘too late to make any changes’ – sorry @DriveEuropeDog – and ‘as discussed when ordering’ (true). We were never trying to blame Donna. It’s over to you now Land Rover.
Meanwhile, Harry Metcalfe’s off to the French Alps today in his new Range Rover.
Sunday 29 November.
THIS IS WHAT WE WANT:
